Space Oddity

Space Oddity is a site specific installation
examining the border between illusory depth and physical depth. The installation oscillates between flat supergraphic and physical depth, along with super-flats floating in physical space as well.

The project combines tromp l’oeil techniques found in Andrea Pozzo’s quadratura frescoes with flat graphic patterns from the 80’s and 90’s popularized by the famed Memphis Group.

While illusionistic Renaissance ceiling
painting and Memphis patterns seem like an unlikely pair, the offset flat depth technique of Memphis and Renaissance perspectival projection come together to re-examineconventional orthographic and perspectival architectural drawing.
